These three cameras (top, Samsung TL500; lower left, Canon S95; and Panasonic LX5) represent a new category: compact, pocket-size cameras with unusually large sensors. The extra sensor space produces sharper photos with better color, especially in low light without the flash. They also have professional features like RAW-format shooting and fast lenses (meaning they let in a lot of light).
